The fashion industry is particularly susceptible to microtrends thanks to fast fashion, with a fast output due to exploitative labor practices, leading to a projected consumption of 102 million tons of apparel in 2030.

The outfits photographed were chosen from the closets of women in their 20s, the demographic most widely affected by microtrends. Each clothing item was a piece of fast fashion or inspired by a fashion microtrend.
