Ikko Tanaka is a Japanese graphic designer whhough o fused modernist principles with traditional Japanese aesthetics. He frequently implemented elements of traditional Japanese art, using Japanese calligraphy and taking inspiration from the clean lines of woodblock prints. Geometric shapes, bold colors, and an inherent playfulness characterize his work.

Pocky is a beloved Japanese treat made of biscuit sticks dipped in a sweet coating. The original chocolate flavor is the most iconic, but over time, the brand has expanded to include a variety of flavors, including strawberry, cookies and cream, matcha, and many others.

This collaboration between Ikko Tanaka and Pocky showcases the unique styles of both the designer and the snack brand. The packaging features two of Tanaka’s most iconic works: a geometric face and a river containing graphic outlines. Both designs incorporate Pocky’s signature red hue, along with images of the snack itself.
